As the Monkees entered the studio as a band, Don Kirshner was still producing sessions. Kirshner had promised the two sides of the next single to Neil Diamond and Jeff Barry, the team behind "I'm A Believer." In February 1967, Kirshner released the "A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You"/"She Hangs Out" single, against the new 50% Monkee-control rule. This resulted in his firing from The Monkees' project. Though the single was withdrawn, it did reach the consumer level in Canada. Also, Kirshner pressed a fair number of promotional singles, "My Favorite Monkee" Davy Jones Sings. In March, "The Girl I Knew Somewhere" became the B-side of the group's third single. This song can be found in two different mixes. A mix with handclaps appears on The Monkees Music Box while a mix without them popped up on I'm A Believer and Other Hits in 1998.

Lyrics:

Walk out!
Girl won't you walk out we've got things to say
Talk out!
Let's have it talked out 'n' things will be o.k.

Girl
I don't want to fight
I'm a little bit wrong
You're a little bit right
And I say girl
You know that it's true
It's a little bit me (a little bit me)
And it's a little bit you
Too

Don't know
Just what I said wrong, but girl I apologise
Don't go!
Here's where you belong so wipe the tears from your eyes

Oh girl
I don't want to fight
I'm a little bit wrong
You're a little bit right
And I say girl
You know that it's true
It's a little bit me (a little bit me)
And it's a little bit you
Too

It's a little bit me
It's a little bit you
Girl don't go!
No no no no no
Girl don't go!
Oh no no no no no
Hey Girl!
Hey Girl!
Please don't go
Please don't go...
